Months after putting our family photos up on the living room wall, I finally got to creating this family name plaque to complete the gallery. It turned out better than I imagined!

Part of the reason it took so long to do this project is I was waiting to get my cricut! But, even after I got the machine it still took about a month to get to this. I don't know, I guess it was a mix of procrastination and a little OCD! I'll admit, sometimes I'm a perfectionist...ok maybe more than sometimes.
Supplies for this project:
- 11x14 stretched canvas
- wood" Family" cutout
- adhesive vinyl
- cutting machine or scissors
- paint/brushes
- glue
1. I painted the canvas in a cream color. I started with an off white chalk paint, but after it was dry I decided I wanted it a bit darker. So, I applied another coat with a creamier color. I also painted the word family in gray.
2. While the paint dried I worked on the vinyl. I used my cricut to create cutouts of our last name. If you don't have a cutting machine (which makes this soo much easier) check out my contact paper stencil tutorial to create a stencil without fancy equipment.
3. I attached the wood word using a strong craft glue, making sure to center it on the canvas.
4. I applied the vinyl cutouts. I love the texture that shows through the vinyl when applied to the canvas. I think it gives it a rustic look.
5. I added this cute detail to each corner that I found in cricut design space. This detailing was the perfect finishing touch!
And here it is completing the picture gallery! Just imagine, this wall had a gap in the center for at least a couple of months! Oh well, life happens...it's done now and that's all that matters right?
Pin for later!
